Family Advocacy
Each family enrolled at Children First collaborates with a dedicated Family Advocate. These advocates play a crucial role in enhancing overall family well-being and fostering parent engagement, a fundamental pillar of our mission. Operating in close partnership with parents and caregivers, Family Advocates assist in defining and achieving financial, educational, and occupational objectives. Through their guidance, encouragement, and provision of resources, advocates empower families to break the cycle of poverty.
How our Family Advocates assist parents and caregivers
- Providing opportunities for you to be a part of your child’s education
- Connecting you with resources that you or your child needs
- Creating action plans
- Achieving educational, occupational, or financial goals
- Referring you to partner agencies for clothing, housing, or food assistance
Vocational Family Advocacy
The Vocational Family Advocate (VFA) plays a vital role in assisting parents and caregivers to enhance their foothold in the workforce. They provide support in improving job skills, pursuing further education, and securing employment opportunities. VFAs are also adept at linking parents to available job training resources within the community. Through our Parent Training Program, parents have the chance to cultivate employability skills and gain practical experience by contributing to Children First in one of the following capacities:
- Early Childhood Development
- Food Service
- Maintenance/Facilities
- Clerical Services
